Lakshman Senewiratne
Lakshman Pinto Jayatilaka Senewiratne (born 9 March 1957), known as Lakshman Senewiratne, is a Sri Lankan politician. He has served as a member of Parliament for the Badulla District and has held ministerial positions. He was Cabinet Minister of Sugar Industries from 28 January 2013 to 12 January 2015, and State Minister of Science, Technology and Research from 6 April 2016 to 2018. He first entered Parliament in 1985 through a by-election in Mahiyangana after his father’s death, and has represented Badulla since 1989. His father, C. P. J. Senewiratne, was an MP for Mahiyangana and a former Cabinet Minister of Labour under President J.R. Jayewardene. Lakshman is a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and has also been affiliated with the United National Party.
