Ilex spicata
Ilex spicata is a holly plant from the Aquifoliaceae family, native to maritime Southeast Asia. The name spicata refers to its spike-like flower clusters.
It grows as a shrub or small tree up to 13.5 meters tall, with smooth white or grey bark. The leathery leaves are oblong to elliptic and up to 8.5 cm long (occasionally up to 13 cm). The flowers appear in spike-like clusters and are white. The round fruits start red and ripen to black.
There are two recognised varieties of Ilex spicata. Conservation status is Least Concern (IUCN 3.1). Scientific name: Ilex spicata Blume; synonyms: Prinos spicatus (Blume) Miq.
