Colombia competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. The team had 59 athletes (55 men and 4 women) who took part in 39 events across eight sports. Alfonso Pérez was the flag bearer. Colombia won its first Olympic medals: one silver in shooting and two bronze medals in boxing, finishing 31st in the medal table with 0 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. The squad included ten cyclists and ten male shooters. In boxing, competitors fought in three weight classes — light flyweight (48 kg), flyweight (51 kg) and light middleweight (71 kg) — and in diving there were events such as the 3m springboard and the 10m platform.
