Kamov Ka-40
The Kamov Ka-40 is a proposed anti-submarine helicopter based on the Ka-27, developed since 1990. It was designed to replace the Ka-27 with a pointed, streamlined nose. It was to be powered by two Klimov TVA-3000 turboshaft engines (about 1,838 kW each) driving a coaxial rotor system. A civil version could carry a 7,000 kg underslung load, while the naval military version would include ASW weapons and electronics. Planned armament included APR-3 water-jet torpedoes and KAB-250PL guided depth charges. Development was suspended in 1998.
