Kira, Aichi
Kira was a coastal town in Hazu District, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, located on Mikawa Bay. In 2004, about 22,280 people lived there, the area was 35.98 square kilometers, and the population density was around 619 people per square kilometer. The town’s economy relied on fishing and seasonal tourism. Kira was founded in 1906 and grew in 1955 by merging with Yokosuka Village.
On April 1, 2011, Kira merged with Hazu and Isshiki (also in Hazu District) to become part of the city of Nishio. Hazu District was dissolved as a result.
