Killarney, Victoria
Killarney is a small town in south-west Victoria, Australia. It sits on the Princes Highway, about 282 kilometres southwest of Melbourne, 18 kilometres west of Warrnambool and 9 kilometres northeast of Port Fairy. It is part of the Moyne Shire. In 2006, 793 people lived there. The name probably comes from Killarney in Ireland, named by Irish settlers in the 1800s. The area’s main industry is dairy farming, with sheep, cattle and grain farming also common. Killarney has a beach that can be reached via Mahoneys Road. The town has a cricket team that plays in the Grassmere Cricket Association.
