Richard B. McQuade Jr.
Richard B. McQuade Jr. was born on April 7, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961 and a Juris Doctor in 1965 from the University of Toledo.
McQuade began his legal career as an assistant prosecutor in Fulton County (1966–1968), then served as Fulton County’s prosecuting attorney from 1969 to 1978, while also practicing privately in Swanton (1966–1978).
He was a judge on the Ohio Court of Common Pleas from 1978 to 1986. In 1986, President Ronald Reagan nominated him to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio to fill the seat vacated by Judge Nicholas Joseph Walinski Jr. He was confirmed by the Senate on September 12, 1986, received his commission on September 15, 1986, and served as a federal judge until his resignation on September 30, 1989.
After leaving the bench, McQuade became president and CEO of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Ohio and has served as a trustee of the University of Toledo.
