Kayam is a 2011 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Anil K. Nair, starring Bala, Manoj K. Jayan, and Shwetha Menon.

Plot: Choonda, a fisherman who leads a village Kabaddi team, shelters Thamara after she witnesses her mother’s brutal rape and murder. Thamara flees to Choonda’s village with him to escape the men who threaten her. Sasikuttan, the leader of another Kabaddi team and Choonda’s rival, is revealed to be Choonda’s long-lost brother. He stays in the village and falls in love with a local girl named Muthu.

Controversy: Shwetha Menon filed a legal complaint against the producer, alleging that stills from the film were used in an advertisement for a sexual steroid pill without her consent. She has also approached the Vanitha Commission.

Release: 7 January 2011.
