The Cherniavsky Trio was a Canadian musical group made up of three brothers: Mischel Cherniavsky (cello), Leo Cherniavsky (violin), and Jan Cherniavsky (piano). They were sons of Abraham Cherniavsky, a Jewish musician and conductor from Ukraine, and came from a family of nine musically gifted children—five brothers and four sisters. Jan and Leo were born in Odesa, and Mischel was born in Uman. The brothers became Canadian citizens on May 1, 1922. They toured the world, starting out as child prodigies.
