La Familia 013
La Familia 013 is the tenth and final studio album by Brazilian band Charlie Brown Jr. It was released on October 8, 2013, after the deaths of lead singer Chorão and bassist Champignon, making it the band's first album in over four years. The title “013” refers to the Santos area code, the band’s hometown. The album was completed after Chorão had finished his vocal parts before he died, while the remaining instrumental parts were completed later. It was produced by Tadeu Patolla and released by Som Livre, with a runtime of 49 minutes and 23 seconds.
The first single, "Meu Novo Mundo," came out in February 2013, followed by "Um Dia a Gente se Encontra" in June 2013, and the posthumous release of "Rock Star" in September 2014. The release was delayed after Champignon’s death and the album leaked online before its official launch. La Familia 013 sold over 40,000 copies and earned Gold certification from Pro-Música Brasil; in 2014 it was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Portuguese Language Rock or Alternative Album.
Critics viewed the album as a fitting final chapter and Chorão’s most autobiographical work. Some described it as slower, softer, and more melancholic, highlighting Chorão’s distinctive, whispering vocals. All lyrics were written by Chorão.
