Swan Village
Swan Village is an area in West Bromwich, part of the Sandwell borough in the West Midlands, England. The area is now cut by the Black Country New Road. It used to be the site of the Swan Village Gas Works. Nearby was the junction where the Ridgacre Branch met the Wednesbury Old Canal; both are now disused. Swan Village had a railway station on the old Birmingham–Wolverhampton line, with a branch line to Great Bridge. The branch line closed in 1964 following the Beeching cuts, and the line to Birmingham and Wolverhampton closed in 1972, along with the station. There used to be a level crossing at one end of the former station, and the Black Lake tram stop on the West Midlands Metro is on the other side of this crossing.
