Kan Mikami
Kan Mikami, born March 20, 1950, in Aomori, Japan, is a folk singer-songwriter and actor. His music blends folk with American blues and was popular in Japan during the 1970s. In 1972 he released a cover of the song "Yume wa Yoru Hiraku" with new lyrics that were banned for their negative portrayal of modern Japanese culture. He has acted in films and worked with Shūji Terayama’s avant-garde theater group Tenjō Sajiki. His memoir, A Life in Folk, was translated into English and published in 2017 by Public Bath Press in Nara, Japan.
