Yuri Mezhirov
Yuri Alexandrovich Mezhirov (7 February 1933 – 13 June 2012) was a Soviet-Russian painter, graphic artist and art teacher from Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). He is part of the Leningrad school of painting and worked in realism. Mezhirov studied at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad, in Victor Oreshnikov’s workshop, and graduated in 1965 as an artist of painting; his diploma work was "At the Front." In 1967 he joined the Leningrad Union of Artists. Since 1965 he took part in exhibitions, creating genre scenes, historical paintings, landscapes, cityscapes and still lifes. His works are in the State Russian Museum and in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad. He died in Saint Petersburg on 13 June 2012.
