Carson Ragsdale
Carson Andrew Ragsdale (born May 25, 1998) is an American baseball pitcher for the Hanshin Tigers in Nippon Professional Baseball. He previously played in Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles in 2025, making his MLB debut on September 14, 2025.
Ragsdale was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2020 draft (116th overall). The minor league season that year was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he was traded to the San Francisco Giants for Sam Coonrod and began his pro career with the San Jose Giants, going 8-6 with a 4.43 ERA and 167 strikeouts in about 113 innings. He spent 2022 with the organization’s rookie level before undergoing thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, which sidelined him for the year. He started 2023 with the Eugene Emeralds and posted a solid 2.93 ERA before a right elbow injury ended his season in May. In 2024, he split between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento, going 5-7 with a 4.18 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 120 2/3 innings; the Giants added him to their 40-man roster after the season.
In 2025, Ragsdale began in Triple-A before being designated for assignment and claimed by Baltimore. He pitched for Norfolk in the minors and made his major league debut with the Orioles on September 14, 2025. After a brief stretch with several teams, he signed a one-year contract with the Hanshin Tigers on December 26, 2025.
