Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero show, the 42nd entry in Toei’s Super Sentai series. It aired from February 11, 2018, to February 10, 2019, and had 51 episodes. The show is unique because two teams of heroes operate at the same time: the Lupinrangers, stylish gentleman thieves, and the Patrangers, police officers. They both fight an alien crime group called the Ganglars who want to steal Earth’s Lupin Collection.

The Lupinrangers are a trio led by Kairi Yano, Tooma Yoimachi, and Umika Hayami. They hide their true identities as they work from a cafe called Bistrot Jurer. The Patrangers are another trio— Keiichiro Asaka, Sakuya Hikawa, and Tsukasa Myoujin—who belong to the Global Special Police Organization (GSPO) based in Japan. Their job is to protect people and capture criminals.

A mysterious 26-year-old thief named Noël Takao helps both teams. He carries the X Changer, a device that lets him switch between Lupin and Patren forms to aid in battles. Noël was raised by Arsène Lupin and built many of the Lupin Collection’s tools, hoping to unite the two teams against the Ganglars.

The Ganglars come from another dimension called Back World. Each monster member carries a stolen Lupin Collection item inside a built-in safe on their body, and they use these items to gain power. The Lupin Collection has a long history, created in part by Arsène Lupin’s ally Kogure, with Noël contributing many of the gadgets.

Throughout the series, the Lupinrangers and Patrangers learn more about each other and their shared foe. In the end, the Ganglars are defeated, the Patrangers learn the Lupinrangers’ civilian identities, and Noël continues his effort to unite the two teams.

The show also spawned movies and crossovers with other Super Sentai series and with Kamen Rider, as well as a V-Cinema release that ties Lupinranger, Patranger, and Kyuranger together. Some of its costumes even appeared in later Power Rangers media.
