1954 United States gubernatorial elections

In 1954, 34 states held gubernatorial elections. Most votes took place on November 2, but Maine held its election on September 13. Florida had a special election because Governor Daniel T. McCarty died in 1953. Tennessee elected its governor to a four-year term for the first time, rather than a two-year term.

Results summary:
- Of the 34 races, 11 Democratic seats and 23 Republican seats were up.
- Democrats won 19 contests; Republicans won 15.
- Net change: Democrats gained 8 seats, Republicans lost 8 seats.
- There were both Democratic holds and gains, as well as Republican holds. Some states did not hold elections that year.
