Jupiter (Cave In album)
Jupiter is the second full-length album by the American band Cave In. It was released on August 8, 2000, and recorded from February to March 2000. The album runs 44 minutes and 10 seconds and was released by Hydra Head Records, produced by Brian McTernan.
Style and content: Jupiter marks a shift away from Cave In’s earlier hardcore sound, moving toward space rock and psychedelic rock influences. The track "Big Riff" is the only song on the album that features screamed vocals.
Cover art: The album cover has four color variants—green for the initial release, magenta for the second press, blue for the third press, and yellow for the fourth press.
Reception: In December 2009, Decibel magazine named Jupiter the second-best metal album of the decade. In 2020, Metal Hammer listed it as one of the 20 best metal albums of 2000.
