Epping is a large industrial area in Cape Town. It sits south of Thornton, east of Pinelands, and north of Langa. The area began developing in the late 1940s. In the early 1950s, Gunners Circle was used as a car race track, but racing stopped as industry grew in the late 1950s. The nearby Athlone Power Station helped attract more businesses in the mid-1960s.

Today, Epping Industria is the largest and most central industrial zone in greater Cape Town, with good access to major roads and public transport, making it a popular choice for business. It hosts companies in textiles, automotive, logistics, construction, recycling, and food processing.

Notable firms include Nampak (packaging), SA Metal Group, Distell Ltd, AVI Ltd, and Afrox. The Cape Town Market, one of the region’s oldest and largest fresh-produce markets, serves thousands of producers and buyers.

Epping Industria is managed by the Epping Community Improvement District (ECID), funded by property owners. The ECID helps with cleaning, security, emergency management, and traffic management, and supports the City of Cape Town.
