Joseph Zenzano
Joseph Zenzano (c. 1710–1790) was a Spanish noble who worked in Buenos Aires as Escribano Mayor de Gobierno, the chief notary for the government. He held this post from 1784 to 1790 during the reign of Charles III.
He was born in Alava, Spain, the son of José Zenzano and Gracia Ozagre. He married Agripina de Mansilla Ruiz from Cádiz, who came from a noble family and was related to Gonzalo Fernández de Mansilla; she was the aunt of Manuel Mansilla, the last Regidor Perpetuo of Buenos Aires.
In 1739, Zenzano served as Minister of the Casa de la Contratación and was sent to study reported abuses at the entry of ships into Buenos Aires’ port. He later served as Royal Notary, public and government official in the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. He died in Buenos Aires on April 28, 1790.
