Stewart House is a charity and children’s centre in Curl Curl, New South Wales, Australia. It was founded in 1931 during the Great Depression to give public school children a place to rest and recover. Children who stayed there benefited from the sea air, healthy meals, and opportunities to exercise. While at Stewart House, they received medical and dental care, eye checks, and emotional support. Since it opened, Stewart House has helped more than 200,000 children, who usually stay about two weeks. Today, the charity is funded mainly by donations from public school teachers.
