Jonah (Breathe song)
Jonah is a pop song by the English band Breathe, released in 1987. It was their debut American single and the third single in the UK after In All Honesty. The track was written by band members David Glasper and Marcus Lillington and produced by Chris Porter.
When first released in May 1987, Jonah did not chart in the UK or the US. An edited single version appeared, and the full 4:49 version was later included on Breathe’s debut album, All That Jazz, released in August 1987.
A remix of Jonah was released in the UK in October 1988 and reached No. 60 on the UK Singles Chart. The song had two music videos: one filmed in Barcelona for the UK release, and another directed by Drew Carolan for the American market in October 1987.
Following the success of Hands to Heaven, Jonah received extra production by Paul Staveley O'Duffy and remixing by Bob Kraushaar. The 1988 re-release reached No. 60 in Britain. B-sides varied by format, including In All Honesty and Liberties of Love.
