Radio Damascus
Radio Damascus is the national radio station of Syria’s state broadcaster GART. It broadcasts across Syria on 567 kHz AM and 95.0 MHz FM (Damascus area) and also streams online for listeners worldwide.
Languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish and Turkish (via webstream).
Ownership: State-owned (GART).
History: It began on 3 February 1947. From 1957 to 2013, it also transmitted internationally on medium wave and shortwave, and via the Ekspress-AM22 satellite. In 2024, its programming largely promoted the Ba’athist government under the Assad family. After the regime change, Radio Damascus ceased broadcasting. It is planned to relaunch on 4 February 2026 under the Syrian transitional government.
