1978 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football

The 1978 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology during the 1978 NCAA Division I-A season. They were led by fifth-year head coach Pepper Rodgers and played home games at Grant Field in Atlanta. The Jackets finished 7-5 as an independent and earned a berth in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, where they lost to Purdue 41-21.

Team captains were Eddie Lee Ivery, Don Patterson, Jeff Shank, and Mike Taylor.

A standout moment came on November 11, 1978, when running back Eddie Lee Ivery rushed for 356 yards against Air Force, setting a new single-game rushing record.
