Jon Nolan
Jon Nolan is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder. He was born on 22 April 1992 in Huyton, England.
Nolan began at Everton’s academy before being released in 2011. He then played for Stockport County (2011–2013) and Lincoln City (2013–2016), with a loan spell at Wrexham (2015–2016). In 2016 he joined Grimsby Town, helping them win promotion back to the Football League via the National League play-offs. He also won Grimsby Town’s Young Player of the Year for 2015–16.
After Grimsby, Nolan moved to Chesterfield (2016–2017) and then Shrewsbury Town (2017–2018). At Shrewsbury he was named Player of the Year for 2017–18 and played in the 2018 EFL Trophy Final, which they lost to Lincoln. He also scored a late playoff goal in the 2018 League One semi-final, but Shrewsbury were beaten in the final by Rotherham.
In August 2018, Nolan joined Ipswich Town alongside Aristote Nsiala. He stayed with Ipswich until January 2022, signing a contract extension in 2020. His later years at the club were hampered by injuries and a period of limited first-team activity after a managerial change. His contract with Ipswich was terminated by mutual consent in January 2022.
Nolan then joined Bristol Rovers (February 2022), making his debut in March. After Bristol Rovers were promoted, he was released. He signed with Tranmere Rovers in June 2022 and stayed until May 2023, when he was not retained. In July 2023 he joined Macclesfield in the Northern Premier League and was released at the end of the season.
Internationally, Nolan has one England C cap, earned in 2014.
