John Forzani
John Forzani (April 5, 1947 – October 30, 2014) was a Canadian businessman, former CFL player, and co-owner of the Calgary Stampeders. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he earned a business degree from Utah State University in 1971. He joined the Calgary Stampeders as an offensive lineman in 1971 and helped them win the Grey Cup that year, playing until 1976. In 1974 he opened Forzani's Locker Room in Calgary. In 1994 he bought Sports Experts Inc. for $20 million, growing FGL Sports into Canada’s largest sporting goods retailer. In 2001 he was named Distinguished Canadian Retailer of the Year by the Retail Council of Canada. He became a part-owner of the Calgary Stampeders in 2005 and received an honorary doctorate from Concordia University's John Molson School of Business that year. John and his brothers Joe and Tom played for the Stampeders, with Joe and Tom also attending Utah State University. He died of a heart attack in Palm Springs, California, in 2014 at age 67.
