John Callender (psychiatrist)
John Callender (born 1954) is a Scottish psychiatrist and philosopher. He studied at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 1977. He worked as a consultant psychiatrist at Royal Cornhill Hospital in Aberdeen, was associate director of Grampian Medical Health Services, and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
Callender helped provide transgender healthcare in Scotland, serving the Grampian, Orkney and Shetland regions. He is now retired.
His research combines Kantian ethics and aesthetics with psychiatry to improve treatment. He has published in journals such as Journal of Medical Ethics, Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, and Philosophy, Psychiatry, & Psychology.

He is married with three children and lives in Aberdeen.
