Portobello Road (song)
Portobello Road is a waltz (3/4) from the 1971 Disney musical Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Composed by the Sherman Brothers, the song is set on Portobello Road in London in 1940. It is sung by David Tomlinson and describes a busy street where anything can be sold from a barrow. The film features a long dance sequence with groups like Scots, Jamaicans, British and Australian soldiers, and Indians dancing to the song in different styles. The number is similar in setup to Oliver!’s "Consider Yourself," with trades such as butchers, policemen, carnival workers, and fishmongers dancing in separate segments.
