Johan Gelderblom
Johan Pieter Gelderblom is a South African retired politician. He started his career with the New National Party (NNP) and served in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. From 2001 to 2004, he was the Western Cape Minister responsible for Agriculture, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. After the 2004 election, he became the chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). In 2005 he crossed the floor to join the African National Congress (ANC). He later served as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly from 2009 to 2014, sitting on the Standing Committee on Appropriations and, from 2011, on the ANC's Western Cape provincial executive committee. Gelderblom did not stand in the 2014 elections and left Parliament on 6 May 2014. Education: He studied at Stellenbosch University, earning a BA Honours degree in 1975.
