Joep van Liefland (born 1966 in Utrecht) is a Dutch contemporary conceptual artist who lives in Berlin. His work explores how media shape our perception and how they change over time. He is especially interested in impermanence and disappearance as technology evolves, using these ideas to think about how the old becomes the new. He uses old distribution and storage devices to create space-filling installations like the Video Palace series, as well as sculptures, wall pieces, screen prints, and collages. Since 2001 he has run AUTOCENTER in Berlin with Maik Schierloh, a space that regularly presents international art.
