Slobodnica
Slobodnica is a village in the Sibinj municipality, in Brod-Posavina County, Croatia. It lies near the western edge of Slavonski Brod and covers 15.6 square kilometers. As of 2021, about 1,314 people live there (1,592 in 2001), with a population density of around 84 per square kilometer. The community is mostly Roman Catholic Croats, with 97% identifying as Croats; the largest age group is people aged 5–44. The Church of St. Mark the Evangelist in Slobodnica was first mentioned in 1730.
The village is important for transport in the region. It sits on Pan-European Corridor X, with the A3 highway connecting Zagreb to Lipovac and the Slavonski Brod zapad junction located there. The Zagreb-Tovarnik railway also passes through Slobodnica. The Police Station of Slavonski Brod is located in the village.
Most residents work in the service sector, including catering, trade, transportation, and tourism. Agriculture remains a secondary part of the economy. There were plans to develop an Industrial Zone in Slobodnica, with completion targeted around 2010, though current updates may vary.
