Indian Uprising (film)
Indian Uprising is a 1952 American Western directed by Ray Nazarro. It stars George Montgomery as Cavalry Captain Case McCloud, with Audrey Long and Carl Benton Reid. Set in 1885 Arizona, McCloud tries to keep a peace treaty between the Apache led by Geronimo and the U.S. government, while local businessmen push for mining. A new cavalry commander allows miners back to the mines, and McCloud investigates a miner’s murder blamed on the Apaches, proving the tribe isn’t responsible, but Geronimo is captured and the treaty is broken. Case resigns in protest, but Geronimo honors him; McCloud stays in the Army and marries his schoolteacher girlfriend Norma Clemson (Audrey Long), who runs a school for Apache children. The film was shot in Supercinecolor, produced by Bernard Small for Edward Small Productions, distributed by Columbia Pictures, and released on January 2, 1952. Running time is 75 minutes.
