Joe Sosnowski is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 69th district since January 2011 after winning the November 2010 election. The 69th district includes parts of Rockford and nearby towns.

Born on April 13, 1977, in Hanover Park, Illinois, he grew up in Carol Stream and graduated from West Chicago High School in 1995. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Political Science from Northern Illinois University in 1999.

Before joining the state House, Sosnowski was involved in local government and business. He served as Seventh Ward Alderman on the DeKalb City Council from 1999 to 2003. He then was elected to the Rockford City Council as First Ward Alderman, serving from 2005 to 2009, where he chaired the Planning and Development Committee and was a member of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Professionally, he worked as a fundraising consultant and holds an Illinois real estate license. He was the Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Buckley Real Estate in Rockford and, until January 2020, served as Director of Institutional Advancement at Rockford Christian Schools.

Sosnowski is married to Roxanne (since 2001) and they have three children. The family lives in Rockford, Illinois. He was endorsed in 2010 by the Chicago Tribune and the Rockford Register Star. As a member of the Illinois House, he has served on several committees.
