Chartiers, also known as Chartiers City, is a small neighborhood in Pittsburgh’s West End, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It covers about 0.13 square miles (0.34 square kilometers) and had 477 residents in 2010, with a population density of about 3,600 people per square mile. The ZIP code is 15204, and it is represented on the Pittsburgh City Council by the District 2 member for the West Neighborhoods. The neighborhood was named after Peter Chartier, a trapper of French and Native American heritage who set up a trading post at the mouth of Chartiers Creek in 1743. Chartiers is bordered by Esplen to the north, Sheraden to the east and southeast, and Windgap to the south, west, and northwest.
