IHM Kolkata
Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Kolkata (IHM Kolkata) is a hospitality management school in Kolkata. It was established in 1963 and is co-accredited by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The motto is “Service Before Self.” The urban campus is at P-16, Taratala Road, Kolkata, and the principal is Raja Sadhukhan.
History and programs
IHM Kolkata started in 1963 on Convent Road with 16 students, founded by P. A. Koshy. In 1980, the campus moved to its present Taratala Road location. It offers a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, with joint accreditation from NCHMCT and JNU. Course instruction is in English.
Admissions
Undergraduate admission is merit-based, combining board exam marks with the NCHMCT JEE entrance test. Applicants must have completed 12th grade or an equivalent. Those appearing for 10+2 can apply for provisional admission, which may be withdrawn if they fail to qualify. The general/OBC upper age limit is 25 years; SC/ST candidates have a relaxation of 3 years.
Vegetarian option
Since 2018, IHM Kolkata, along with other IHMCTANs, has offered a vegetarian cooking option.
