Huamalíes province
Huamalíes Province is one of eleven provinces in Peru’s Huánuco Region. The capital is Llata. The province lies along the upper Marañón River.

People and language
- Most residents are indigenous Quechua people. About 53.3% learned Quechua as their first language, while 46.2% learned Spanish first (2007 census).
Archaeology
- The region has several important archaeological sites, including Anku, Awila Qhincha Mach’ay, Isuq, K’ipakhara, Miyu Pampa, Pumaq Hirka, Qillqay Mach’ay, Wat’a, and Wanqaran. Some sites are protected as National Cultural Heritage.
