Aroon Purie (born 1944 in Lahore) is an Indian media businessman and journalist. He founded and led the India Today Group as founder-publisher and editor-in-chief of India Today. He also serves as managing director of Thomson Press (India) Limited and as chairman and managing director of TV Today. Purie was the editor-in-chief of Reader's Digest India. In 2001, he received the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian journalism. In October 2017, he handed control of the India Today Group to his daughter Kalli Purie, and he remains involved as a guiding force.

Purie studied at The Doon School and earned an economics degree from the London School of Economics in 1965. He began his career at Thomson Press in 1970 as Production Controller and later started the India Today Group in 1975. Under his leadership, the group expanded into magazines, radio, TV channels, a newspaper, and digital platforms, and helped shape 24-hour news in India with channels like Aaj Tak and Headlines Today. He has three children, including Koel Purie, and his sister is journalist Madhu Trehan.
