Howzat! Kerry Packer's War
Howzat! Kerry Packer's War is an Australian drama miniseries about cricket in the 1970s. It tells the story of Kerry Packer, a powerful Australian media owner, who created World Series Cricket by signing up the world’s top players to run a rival competition against the traditional game. The series is set around the 1977 Ashes tour in England, where Australia fields a team of legends and the old cricket establishment is challenged.
The show stars Lachy Hulme, Matthew Le Nevez, Brendan Cowell, Damon Gameau, Abe Forsythe and Cariba Heine. It consists of two 90-minute episodes. It was written by Christopher Lee and directed by Daina Reid, produced by Southern Star Entertainment, with executive producers Jo Rooney and Rory Callaghan and producers Mimi Butler and John Edwards.
Howzat! Kerry Packer's War aired on the Nine Network from August 19 to August 26, 2012. The series is based on a book by Christopher Lee, published in 2012 by NewSouth Publishing.
