2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season
The fifth season of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series ran from May 28 to September 24 and had 12 races at 11 venues, with seven on oval tracks. New rules for the season included a rookie of the year format, the wave-around, and up to three attempts at a green-white-checker finish. All races were on TSN; Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Toronto were aired live, while the others were shown on a one-hour tape delay.
Scott Steckly won the championship, his second title, after taking three wins and finishing second four times. D. J. Kennington finished second in points with two wins. Robin Buck, a longtime road racer, and rookie Peter Shepherd III each earned their first career wins. Andrew Ranger won two big races, at Montreal and Toronto. Former champion Don Thomson Jr. retired after a long career. The schedule included Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec making its debut.
