Hondo Valle is a mountain town in the Elías Piña province of the Dominican Republic. It sits about 890 meters above sea level, has a cool climate, and covers around 120.6 square kilometers. In 2012, there were about 5,989 residents. The town is about 36 kilometers from Comendador.

In 1978, Hondo Valle became its own municipality, including communities such as Aniceto Martinez, Juan de la Cruz, Sabana de la Loma, Los Guineos, Juan Santiago, Monte Mayor, Rancho de la Guardia, and Rancho de Pedro. Francisco de Rosario Sánchez passed through this area during an invasion from Haiti.

According to the 2002 census, the municipality had about 10,647 people, with roughly 35% living in urban areas. The local economy centers on farming and livestock, with some tourism and trade with Haiti.
