Hina language
Mina, also known as Hina or Besleri, is a Chadic language spoken in northern Cameroon. About 10,000–11,000 people spoke it around 2000. Most Mina speakers are bilingual in Fulfulde (Fula), and educated speakers often know French as well.
Where it's spoken: Besleri is used across most of Hina commune in the Mayo-Tsanaga Department, Far North Region. Dialects include Besleri, Jingjing (Dzumdzum), and Gamdugun, with Dzundzun (often linked to Marbak) and Kefedjevreng listed by some sources. The exact relationships among these dialects aren’t clear, and speakers of different dialects don’t always understand each other fully.
Language family: Mina/Hina/Besleri is part of the Afro-Asiatic family, in the Chadic branch, within the Biu–Mandara group (South Mina).
