A Fine Mess is the eighth EP by American rock band Interpol. It was released May 17, 2019, on Matador Records. The five tracks were recorded during the Marauder (2018) sessions but did not appear on that album. The EP runs 17 minutes and 45 seconds, and was produced by Dave Fridmann, with Claudius Mittendorfer co-producing the track "Fine Mess" (which also had additional production from Kaines and Tom A. D. Fuller). Recording took place from December 2017 to April 2018 at Tarbox Road Studio in Cassadaga, New York. The song "Real Life" was first performed live during the Turn On the Bright Lights XV anniversary tour in 2017. The EP's two singles were "Fine Mess" (released January 30, 2019) and "The Weekend" (released March 28, 2019). In the Interpol discography, A Fine Mess sits after Marauder (2018) and before The Other Side of Make-Believe (2022). Critical reception was mixed, with Metacritic giving it 59/100 based on six reviews.
