Hugh Cameron (footballer, born 1927)
Hugh Gibson Cameron (1 February 1927 – 9 December 2009) was a Scottish footballer who played as a left winger. He was born in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. He began his career with Burnbank Athletic before turning professional with Clyde (1946–1948), making 13 league appearances and scoring 2 goals. In 1948 he moved to Torquay United, where he played 120 league games and scored 17 goals. In 1951 he joined Newcastle United, but he only played twice. He then moved to Bury (29 games, 1 goal) and later to Workington (54 games, 4 goals). He finished his career with St Mirren in 1956, making 1 appearance. In total, Cameron made 219 league appearances and scored 24 goals. He died in Wishaw, Scotland, in December 2009 at the age of 82.
