A Gallery of Children
A Gallery of Children is a 1925 collection of twelve short fantasy stories for children by A. A. Milne, with illustrations by Henriette Willebeek le Mair (also credited as Saida). The pictures were originally made for Colgate magazine ads, and Milne wrote a short tale to accompany each drawing, calling them a fanciful elaboration of the picture. The book was Milne’s second children’s book and his first prose work for children, published in the UK by Stanley Paul and in the US by David McKay Company. It sits between When We Were Very Young (1924) and Winnie-the-Pooh (1926). The 105-page collection is known for its playful tone rather than strong plots. In 2021, the book entered the public domain.
