Grace Under Fire is a 2011 Hong Kong martial arts drama produced by TVB. Set in the early 1920s in Foshan and Guangzhou during the Republic of China era, it follows Mok Kwai-lan, the last wife of the famous martial artist Wong Fei-hung.

Kwai-lan is a simple water worker who lives with her uncle Mok Ping and his adopted son Yau Sam-shui. Her life changes when she meets the ambitious young boxer Lui Ching-lung and her fellow chef Kwai Fa. Inspired by Fei-hung’s skill, Kwai-lan begins training in kung fu and becomes the only known descendant of the Mok Gar style. Fei-hung agrees to teach Kwai-lan and Sam-shui, and Kwai-lan grows closer to Fei-hung, eventually marrying him.

The story follows their battles against rivals and corrupt powers in Guangzhou, including Lui Kong, a former Guangzhou champion with leprosy, and Sam-shui, who collaborates with Japanese merchants to seize power. Sam-shui’s scheming leads to the destruction of Po Chi Lam and brings tragedy to many characters, including the death of Fei-hung’s son.

Fei-hung loses his status and dies, but Kwai-lan inherits his knowledge and carries on his dream. After a series of twists, Kwai-lan returns to Guangzhou, defeats her enemies, and protects her friends. In the end, she moves to Hong Kong and opens a martial arts school for people of all ages and backgrounds, spreading kung fu around the world and honoring Fei-hung’s legacy.
