Goshen is a small, unincorporated community and census-designated place in Tulare County, California, near Visalia. It covers about 2.8 square miles of land (no lakes or rivers inside the area) and sits about 285 feet above sea level. As of 2020, Goshen had about 4,968 residents, up from 3,006 in 2010. The community is largely Hispanic or Latino, with a mix of other races.

Historically, Goshen was once an island in the marshy edge of Tulare Lake. The Butterfield Overland Mail stopped nearby in 1858, and the town formed in the 1870s as the Central Pacific Railroad expanded, including a branch line to Visalia in 1874. In the 1890s, a notable train robbery occurred near Goshen.

Today, Goshen is mainly a residential area with many families. It uses ZIP code 93227 and area code 559. Politically, Goshen falls within California’s 12th State Senate district, the 32nd State Assembly district, and the 21st U.S. congressional district.
