Elisabeth Braw
Elisabeth Braw, born December 2, 1973, is a Swedish security expert and former journalist who works in Britain. She leads the Modern Deterrence project at the defense think tank RUSI in London and is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, in the Transatlantic Security Initiative.
She was born in Tingsås, Kronoberg County, Sweden. Her father, Christian Braw, was a priest and writer, and her mother, Karin Braw, is a music director. She studied in Germany, and her thesis focused on reducing nuclear weapons in Europe.
Braw has lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Italy, and San Francisco. She was a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford. As a journalist, she writes about security policy and contributes to many outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Times, The Economist, and Svenska Dagbladet. Her reports often include interviews with top politicians and historical analyses.
