Glen Braz
Air Vice-Marshal Glen Edward Braz, AM CSC DSM, nicknamed "Blitz" (born 1969), is a senior officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). He joined the RAAF through the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1987 and earned his pilot wings in 1991. He has flown fighter aircraft, taught as a flying instructor, and held several command roles.
Braz was commander of No. 1 Squadron RAAF from 2008 to 2011, guiding the squadron through its transition to the F/A-18F Super Hornet. For this, he received the Conspicuous Service Cross in 2011. He later worked in Washington as Air Staff Officer Plans and Operations and led the Growler Transition for the EA-18G. In 2015 he commanded Air Task Group 630 on Operation Okra against ISIL, earning the Distinguished Service Medal in 2016. He then led No. 82 Wing (2015–17) and the Air Force Training Group (2017–19), where he oversaw major training reforms including moving to the PC-21 and establishing the Air Academy and Ground Academy. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019.
Promoted to air vice‑marshal in 2020, Braz served with the Australian Signals Directorate and, in 2023, briefly as Deputy Chief of the Air Force before becoming Air Commander Australia, overseeing the RAAF’s combat arms and operational capability. He is married to Charnie and has two daughters.
