German State Crown

German State Crown (Staatskrone) was designed in 1871 to symbolize the new German Empire. The design echoed the Crown of the Holy Roman Empire. A wooden model was kept in the Hohenzollern Museum at Schloss Monbijou in Berlin, but it disappeared during World War II and has never been found. No final crown was ever made. The design, however, was used as the heraldic symbol of the German emperors from 1871 to 1918, appearing on the imperial coat of arms and the emperor’s personal standard. A drawing of the crown is used as an emblem by the monarchist group Tradition und Leben. Crowns for the Empress and Crown Prince were also designed and wooden models produced.
