Gary Coyle (born 1965) is an Irish artist from Dublin who works in drawing, photography, printing and performance. He became a member of Aosdána in 2009, Ireland’s national association of artists. He was elected to the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2007. Coyle studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and at the Royal College of Art in London. His work often explores Gothic themes, fragmentary narratives and the tension between humankind and nature. His pieces are held in public collections such as the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Crawford Art Gallery and the Royal Hibernian Academy. He is the son of John Coyle, an artist who was also a member of the RHA. His work can be viewed at garycoyle.ie.
