Adam Pretty
Adam Pretty, born around 1977, is a professional sports photographer from Sydney, Australia. He has worked as both a press photographer and a freelance photographer. He has shot at six Olympics: 2000, 2004, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024, and he has won many awards, including top prizes from World Press Photo.
Pretty grew up in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and went to Sydney Boys High School, where he started taking photos. He was also a coxswain on the rowing team. After school, he worked as a freelance photographer and got his first job with the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997. In his first year as a cadet photographer, he won second prize in the colour single picture category of the IOC Best of Sport competition.
Wanting to focus on sport, he joined Allsport (now Getty Images) in 1998, where he still works. He was a key Getty Images photographer at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the 2012 London Olympics. He also photographed the 2024 Paris Olympics for Getty.
